How to use
- Monthly deposit is what leaves your account each month.
- Rate is the RD rate, not the FD rate next to it on the board.
- Tenure in months. 3 years is 36.
One example
₹5,000 a month for 36 months at 7% lands near ₹2.01 lakh maturity. You put in ₹1.80 lakh. Rest is interest if you stay till end.
Common mistakes
- Comparing with SIP returns. RD rate is closer to bank deposit, not equity.
- Missing a month and still expecting the same maturity.
- Using years in the months field.
